About[]

Geek & Sundry, the web based multimedia company co-founded by Felicia Day with a focus on all things nerd, has been bolstering its output of original content lately, and now they can add a YA adaptation webseries to the mix. The Hollywood Reporter announced that principal photography had begun on Morganville: The Series, based on the popular Morganville Vampires novels by Rachel Caine.

Caine and company had turned to Kickstarter last year to fund the adaptations, and raised nearly $82,572 in the process. The series, currently 15 books long, has a dedicated fanbase, has sold over 3 million copies worldwide and has charted numerous times on the New York Times best-seller list. The fanbase are there and since Hollywood sees paranormal YA films as too financially risky for a wider audience, the internet is the perfect medium for such a story.

Amber Benson of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame will star in the series, which focuses on a student named Claire who discovers her college town is run by vampires. With so many books in the series, there’s plenty of material to adapt, although it remains to be seen just how faithful the show will remain to Caine’s work.
